• Are my windows compatible?

  • ​We can retrofit any window with adhesive application. In custom projects we can specify the same film as laminate for your window builder to apply (sandwiched) between 2 glasses​

• Is it true that there are government and utility company incentives available for these type of products? 

  • Yes, but it varies from location to location. www.dsireusa.org has information about incentives in your area.

• What kind of energy savings can I see using a smart glass?

  • ​According to the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, HVAC and Lighting are responsible for 51% of a home's power bill and 57% of a business's home power bill, on average. Smart Glasses can be set to control the amount of light and heat that enters and exits a building at various times of day and seasons, energy savings can be substantial. Consult your architect or local energy efficiency specialist for more precise figures, as savings will vary with every building in every location.

• What is the expected life of these products?

  • Each product and manufacturer is different but for InvisiShade 4.0, the manufacturer rates their product life expectancy to be approximately 10 years, though installations can last many years longer. Factors such as exposure to UV light, ON/OFF cycles, and quality of installation will prolong or shorten life. All our products have been tested to last a minimum of 100,000 ON/OFF cycles (more than most people will see in 100 years of continuous use).

• Do I need special wiring? 

  • ​PDLC are engineered to operate on household 110VAC current. Each PDLC film uses 2 wires. In custom build projects these leads are wired to an electrical circuit with switch/dimmer just like a room light. With retrofitting instead each or multiple PDLC panels can be wired and terminated with a standard 2 prong plug. The latter would need to be plugged into a nearby power receptacle.

• Do these come in different colors?

  • Switchable films may come in different colors but white is the standard.  InvisiShade 4.0 comes in White, Grey and Dark Grey tints.

• Can these be integrated with smart homes?

• Can these be setup to intelligently work as window shades....automatically throughout the day ?

  • You bet we can. Our Smart Glass Window Treatment integration makes it all possible.
